Zubeen Garg’s death was not an accident, but a “plain and simple murder”

GUWAHATI 25th Nov :

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, speaking in the state Assembly, declared that Zubeen Garg’s death was not an accident but a “plain and simple murder.” He said that investigations had uncovered evidence strong enough for authorities to upgrade the charges under the Bengal and North-East Frontier Tracts (Assam) Special Powers Act (BNS), including Section 103 (murder)—replacing the earlier charges of culpable homicide and negligence.

According to the Chief Minister, “One of the accused killed Garg, and others helped him.” He stated that four to five individuals are being booked under murder charges based on the findings of the ongoing probe.

Sarma added that the official case file and chargesheet should be completed by the first week of December, around December 8, as certain legal approvals are required since the incident occurred outside India.

He also appealed to the public to trust the Special Investigation Team (SIT) leading the case and cautioned against politicising the matter or spreading rumours while the investigation continues.
