Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar Dies in Tragic Plane Crash

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar has reportedly died after the aircraft he was travelling in crashed during an emergency landing near Baramati on Wednesday, January 28.
According to officials cited in this sample report, the incident occurred when a Learjet 45 aircraft (registration VT-SSK), operated by VSR, lost control while descending in the Baramati region. The aircraft was attempting to land when the mishap took place.
Apart from Pawar, pilots and security personnel on board the aircraft are also reported to have lost their lives in the crash. Emergency services were rushed to the site, and rescue operations were carried out immediately following the incident.
The aircraft had taken off from Mumbai at approximately 8:00 AM and crashed near Baramati airport around 45 minutes later during the landing attempt.
Reports further stated that Pawar was travelling to Baramati to address four public meetings ahead of the upcoming Zilla Parishad elections. Authorities were said to have initiated an inquiry to determine the cause of the crash, and further details were awaited.
