Assam Police Seize Drugs Worth ₹9.2 Crore Across Two Valleys, Three Arrested
The Assam Police have seized narcotics worth an estimated ₹9.2 crore during coordinated anti-drug operations carried out across two valleys in the state, officials said on Friday.
The operations were conducted based on specific intelligence inputs, leading to the recovery of a substantial quantity of suspected narcotic substances from multiple locations. Three persons were arrested in connection with the seizures, and further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward linkages in the drug trafficking network.
According to police officials, the crackdown forms part of the state’s intensified drive against drug smuggling and organised narcotics trade, particularly in vulnerable transit corridors. The seized contraband has been sent for forensic examination, while the accused have been taken into custody for interrogation.
Authorities stated that such operations are aimed at dismantling supply chains operating across districts and preventing the spread of drugs among youth. Additional arrests are not being ruled out as the investigation progresses.
The Assam Police reiterated their commitment to sustaining aggressive enforcement actions against drug trafficking and urged the public to cooperate by sharing information related to illegal narcotics activities.
