Lovlina Borgohain Leads India to Dominant 19-Medal Haul at Boxam Elite 2026

India concluded a standout campaign at the Boxam Elite International 2026 boxing tournament in La Nucia, Alicante, finishing as the most successful nation with a total of 19 medals. The haul comprised nine gold, three silver and seven bronze, underlining India’s depth across weight categories.

Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain headlined the gold rush with a composed performance in the women’s 75kg final, registering a 4–1 win over England’s Mary-Kate Smith. Her victory capped a dominant showing by Indian women boxers, who featured in seven finals—including an all-Indian clash in the 54kg division—and converted every appearance into gold.

The women’s gold run began with Manju Rani (48kg) and Nitu Ghanghas (51kg), both earning unanimous verdicts against Spanish opponents Marta Lopez and Noelia Gutierrez. Poonam (54kg) then edged Preeti Pawar in a closely contested all-Indian final. Priya (60kg) and former youth world champion Arundhati Choudhary (70kg) followed with emphatic 5–0 wins over Ukrainian rivals, while Naina (80kg) completed the sweep with a controlled victory over Raisa Piskun of Ukraine.

In the men’s section, Sachin Siwach (60kg) delivered one of the tournament’s most thrilling bouts, edging Canada’s Keoma-Ali Al Ahmadieh 3–2 to claim gold. Akash (75kg) added another title with a narrow 3–2 win over Kazakhstan’s Aman Konsbekov. Deepak (70kg) and Ankush (80kg) settled for silver medals after competitive finals against boxers from Kazakhstan and Ukraine, respectively.

The tournament featured over 200 boxers from 20 countries, providing strong international exposure early in the season.
