Assam Accelerates Statewide School Modernisation Drive, Targets Complete Upgrade by 2030

Assam has marked a major milestone in its education reform journey, signalling a decisive shift from isolated infrastructure upgrades to a comprehensive, state-wide transformation of school education.

In a significant move, the state recently dedicated 67 upgraded school buildings simultaneously while also laying the foundation stones for 61 new schools, reflecting the expanding scale and momentum of its education modernisation efforts.

These developments are part of an ambitious plan to modernise 1,300 schools across the state, equipping them with contemporary classrooms, well-designed laboratories, digital learning tools, libraries, and student-centric infrastructure. The initiative aims to ensure uniform access to quality educational facilities, regardless of geography, and to create learning environments that inspire growth and innovation.

Officials emphasised that well-planned educational infrastructure plays a critical role in nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and confidence among students. The upgraded schools are expected to serve as hubs for holistic learning, empowering students to pursue their aspirations and emerge as responsible contributors to society.

Aligned with the broader vision of Atal Avichal Agragami Assam, the state has set an unwavering target to upgrade every school by 2030. By strengthening educational foundations today, the government aims to build a Viksit Assam—one that future generations can take pride in.

The initiative underscores Assam’s long-term investment in its children, positioning education as a cornerstone for sustainable development and inclusive growth.
