Nagaland signs MoU to strengthen Public health system

The Nagaland Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Department on Monday entered into a partnership with The George Institute for Global Health India to improve health services and population health outcomes in the state.

An MoU was formally signed at the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) Conference Hall, H&FW Directorate, Kohima. The collaboration focuses on strengthening Nagaland’s health system through research-based interventions, training, and community participation.

Speaking at the event, H&FW officials said the partnership aims to support evidence-driven policy decisions and build local capacity within the healthcare system. The initiative will also work closely with communities to improve health awareness and participation at the grassroots level.

The collaboration will be implemented through the PATANG initiative (Promoting Community Action for Health), which seeks to build on Nagaland’s communitisation model by empowering local communities, strengthening health literacy, and improving coordination between government bodies and civil society.
