Nagaland’s ANATG 2015 Batch Suspends Agitation After Talks
The All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) 2015 batch has announced the suspension of its 11-day peaceful sit-in protest following a meeting with officials of the School Education Department and the state government on February 17.
A delegation of 49 members, including core committee leaders and general members, attended the meeting at the Directorate of School Education after an invitation from Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education and SCERT. The meeting reportedly began around 11 a.m. and continued for nearly three hours.
The meeting was attended by the Principal Director of School Education, the Joint Director of Samagra Shiksha, officials from the Secretariat and the department, and representatives of the parent body ANSTA.
The group included its general members in the meeting so that the concerns of a wider section of agitating teachers could be placed before the government following several days of protest. Meanwhile, the discussions turned out to be “fruitful and cordial,” the batch also expressed appreciation to the Advisor and concerned officials for engaging with the delegation.
Despite the detailed exchanges, the group indicated that its primary issues remain unaddressed, particularly the absence of a definitive timeline for the regularisation of services of the 2015 batch and the pending segregation of 1,166 files, which continue to be matters of concern.
Following the meeting, the group announced that the ongoing sit-in protest has been suspended for the time being.
