PM Narendra Modi to Visit Assam’s Barak Valley on 14 March to Launch Guwahati–Silchar Expressway

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on March 14, 2026, to launch key infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening connectivity in the Northeast. The highlight of the visit will be the formal rollout of the proposed Guwahati–Silchar Expressway, a major road project expected to significantly reduce travel time between Guwahati and Silchar.

According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the initiative marks a major step toward enhancing economic growth, improving transportation efficiency, and boosting regional development in the Barak Valley. Additional development works may also be inaugurated during the Prime Minister’s visit, with detailed programme schedules expected to be released closer to the date.
