Assam CM Announces 5 Lakh Financial Aid for Families Affected by Arunachal Road Accident

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday handed over ex-gratia assistance of ₹5 lakh each to the families of Assam labourers who were killed in a tragic road accident in Arunachal Pradesh earlier this month.

The Chief Minister visited Tinsukia district, where most of the victims hailed from, and personally met the grieving families. Extending his condolences, Sarma assured them of all possible support from the Assam government during this difficult time.

The accident occurred when a vehicle carrying labourers to a work site in Arunachal Pradesh plunged into a deep gorge, resulting in multiple fatalities. One labourer survived the mishap and is currently undergoing treatment. The Chief Minister also announced financial assistance of ₹1 lakh for the survivor to help cover medical expenses.

Officials accompanying the Chief Minister were directed to ensure that the affected families are linked to government welfare schemes and receive necessary administrative support. The state government has emphasized its resolve to provide both immediate relief and long-term assistance to the families impacted by the tragedy.
