Amit Shah to Inaugurate Batadrava Cultural Project in Assam on December 29

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to inaugurate the Batadrava Cultural Project at Batadrava Than in Assam’s Nagaon district on December 29, officials said. The project, developed by the Assam government, is aimed at revitalising the historic Batadrava Than widely recognised as the birthplace of Vaishnavite reformer Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev into a prominent cultural, spiritual and tourism destination.

The initiative focuses on heritage conservation while upgrading infrastructure to accommodate pilgrims and visitors. It includes improved access, visitor amenities and cultural spaces designed to highlight Assam’s religious and artistic traditions. Ahead of the inauguration, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the final phase of preparations at the site and directed officials to ensure smooth arrangements for the event.

The Batadrava Cultural Project is expected to strengthen cultural tourism in central Assam and enhance the national visibility of one of the state’s most significant spiritual landmarks. The inauguration by the Union Home Minister underscores the Centre’s engagement in heritage-linked development initiatives in the Northeast.
