Preparations are underway for the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected BJP-led NDA government in Assam, scheduled to be held on May 12 at the Veterinary Field in Khanapara.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the event along with senior Union ministers, chief ministers, deputy chief ministers from BJP-ruled states, and other invited dignitaries.

State Chief Secretary Ravi Kota said senior officials recently reviewed arrangements related to the Prime Minister’s visit and the oath-taking ceremony of the new Council of Ministers. The meeting reportedly focused on security measures, traffic regulation, venue preparations, protocol management, and coordination between departments.

Kota also stressed the importance of maintaining smooth coordination among all agencies to ensure the ceremony is conducted in an organised and secure manner.

Meanwhile, Himanta Biswa Sarma submitted his resignation to Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya following the NDA’s victory in the Assembly elections. The Governor has asked him to continue as caretaker chief minister until the new government officially assumes office.

The BJP has appointed J. P. Nadda and Naib Singh Saini as observers for the election of the BJP Legislature Party leader, expected to take place on May 10.

The NDA returned to power in Assam for a third consecutive term after securing a decisive majority in the recently concluded Assembly elections.
