Union Minister Amit Shah Names Suvendu Adhikari as West Bengal Chief Minister; Oath Tomorrow at 11 AM
Kolkata, May 8:
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reportedly announced Suvendu Adhikari as the Chief Minister of West Bengal, positioning him to become the state’s first leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party to hold the top post.
According to circulating information, Adhikari is expected to take oath as Chief Minister on May 9 at 11 AM. The development, if officially confirmed, would mark a significant political shift in West Bengal’s governance landscape.
Suvendu Adhikari, currently serving as the Leader of Opposition, has been one of BJP’s most prominent faces in the state and played a crucial role in expanding the party’s footprint across key constituencies.
However, as of now, no formal confirmation or official notification has been issued by constitutional authorities, including the Governor’s office. Political observers advise caution until an official swearing-in schedule is released through verified government channels.
If confirmed, the move would mark a historic moment for BJP in West Bengal, a state traditionally dominated by regional parties.
