Assam Exports First International Consignment Of Baksa Honey To United States

Baksa | Officials stated that the export initiative was facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Central government’s One District One Product (ODOP) programme, which focuses on promoting region-specific products in global markets.

According to official information, the consignment included nearly 20 metric tonnes of honey and was exported by APEDA-registered exporter Salt Range Foods Private Limited.

The development is being viewed as a significant milestone for Assam’s agri-based industries and local honey producers, particularly from Baksa district, which has gradually emerged as an important honey-producing region in the state.

Authorities said the initiative is expected to create better market opportunities for local beekeepers and strengthen Assam’s presence in international agricultural trade. The export is also expected to encourage value-added production and support rural livelihoods linked to apiculture.

The ODOP initiative aims to identify and promote unique products from different districts across India by enhancing branding, market access, and export opportunities. Officials believe such international shipments can further open global avenues for indigenous and locally produced goods from the Northeast.
