Nagaland Conducts Mega Mock Drill for Earthquake, Extreme Weather Preparedness
Kohima: In a major step towards strengthening disaster readiness, the state of Nagaland carried out a state-level mega mock drill focused on preparedness for earthquakes and extreme weather events.
The exercise was conducted under the supervision of disaster management authorities, with active participation from multiple agencies including emergency services, local administration, and response teams. The drill aimed to simulate real-life emergency scenarios and assess the coordination, response time, and efficiency of various departments.
Officials said the initiative was designed to enhance public awareness and institutional preparedness, especially in a region that is vulnerable to seismic activity and changing weather patterns.
During the drill, teams practiced evacuation procedures, rescue operations, and emergency response protocols, ensuring that systems are in place to minimize risks and respond effectively during actual disasters.
Authorities emphasized the importance of such exercises in building a culture of preparedness, urging citizens to remain informed about safety measures and cooperate with emergency guidelines.
The mock drill is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster management frameworks and ensure quicker, more coordinated responses during natural calamities.
