Prime Minister to Visit Assam on March 13–14; Development Projects and Land Pattas for Tea Workers Planned
Guwahati | March 2026
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Assam on March 13 and 14, where he will participate in a series of official programmes focused on development initiatives and welfare measures for tea garden communities.
During the two-day visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to launch and inaugurate several development projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure and public services in the state. Officials said the programmes will highlight initiatives related to connectivity, economic development, and social welfare.
A key component of the visit will be the distribution of land pattas to tea garden workers, an initiative intended to provide land rights and greater security to families working in Assam’s tea estates. The measure is part of broader efforts to address long-standing land ownership issues faced by many workers in the tea sector.
State authorities have been preparing for the visit, with arrangements being made for the public events and official programmes. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is expected to accompany the Prime Minister during parts of the visit.
Officials say the programmes will focus on highlighting development work in the state while also addressing welfare concerns of tea garden communities, which represent an important segment of Assam’s workforce.
