Heroin Worth ₹3 Crore Seized in Major Anti-Drug Operation in Amingaon; Two Arrested

In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking in Assam, a joint operation by the Special Task Force (STF) and Kamrup Police resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of heroin from Amingaon, officials said.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the joint team intercepted a vehicle during a targeted operation. Upon conducting a detailed search, officials discovered narcotics carefully concealed within the door panels, suggesting a deliberate attempt to evade detection.

Authorities recovered 25 soap boxes containing approximately 350 grams of heroin (excluding packaging). The seized contraband is estimated to have a street value of around ₹3 crore.

Two Arrested

Two individuals from Manipur’s Churachandpur district have been arrested in connection with the case. Both accused are currently in custody.

Operation Led by STF

The operation was carried out under the supervision of a senior STF official, with coordinated efforts from the district police team ensuring successful interception and recovery.

Further Investigation Underway

Officials confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated, and further investigation is in progress to trace the source and intended destination of the consignment, as well as identify other links in the trafficking network.

Authorities reiterated their continued commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations across key routes in the Northeast region.
